Harlan and Cleo Dornfeld Memorial Scholarship
Harold C. Berkholtz Art Scholarship
Harold F. Breit Scholarship
Harold graduated from Mayville High School and UW-Oshkosh where he majored in education. This schooling, in combination with life experiences, served as the foundation for his passion for education, sense of integrity, and commitment to the community. He believed that a person’s values were best demonstrated through their actions; by what they did, not what they said. This was proven by his dedication to family, loyalty to lifelong friends, and active involvement in many community causes and organizations. His actions as an educator supported his deep personal belief that it was his responsibility to assure that the best interest of the kids, teachers, and school were always paramount; that “politics” would not supersede “doing the right thing.”
Harold enjoyed spending time with family, friends, and “the old guys,” doing whatever he could to help enrich their lives. He loved to laugh and make others laugh, having a pun for every situation.
Harold enjoyed 15 years of retirement. Much of that time was spent taking a lazy afternoon float in the pool in Florida or at his cabin in the north woods where he enjoyed the quiet and solitude of life without “too much noise.” He enjoyed reading and all things in nature, whether it was feeding the birds, fishing, hunting, four wheeling, or simply looking out at the lake.
After his death, one of his former students sent the following condolence, “I don’t remember all of my teachers but I certainly remember ‘Mr. Breit’ as a kind but demanding and caring teacher. It was important to him that we learned the lessons he taught. He was a positive influence not only on me, but I’m sure on all of his students." This is proof of the importance educators play in shaping the lives of all of us.
Two $500 scholarships will be offered, one to a graduate of Fond du Lac High School and another to a graduate of Mayville High School.

Trent Schueffner Memorial Scholarship
Trent thrived on the idea of hunting, snowmobiling, working on the farm, really anything that got his hands dirty. It's not just the activities themselves that made them a passion, but also what came with it. It's the connection with nature, the challenges, and the memories. He learned that nothing comes easy and that you have to work hard to get to where you want to be. With that being said, Trent strived to be the best he could be. By putting countless hours into working hard and networking with people who have a common goal that eventually turns into a lasting friendship. Trent created his passion every day, by working hard and creating memories that no one could ever take away. Trent's big heartedness shined by being a helping hand to those who shared common interests. The bonds that were made and the memories that were formed, are the reason behind that Trent Schueffner grin.
